Traditionally Mucuna Pruriens is used in different diseases and is commonly used as a carminative, hypotensive and hypoglycaemic agent. From a phytochemical point of view, the drug contains L-dopamine (which is very effective in the treatment of Parkinson's disease), tripamine alkaloids, lecithin and tannins.
